ww.There are many interest badges the Brownies can take, we tend to encourage the girls to work on thier own badges but will also work as a unit towards some badges. Please see the Brownie website for badges they can take.

This term we will work as a unit on the Computer Badge:

1. Show how to do the following:
** Turn on a computer.
** Start a program you want to use.
** Use a mouse, joystick or graphics tablet.
** Handle disks and CDs to keep them clean.
** Save something you have created to the hard drive, disk or CD.
** Print your work.
** Shut down the computer when you’ve finished.
2. Know what a computer virus is and how to prevent being affected by one.
3. Choose and do one of the following.
* Write a letter or story using a word-processing programme. Use a range of fonts and sizes. If possible use colours and insert pictures or clip art. Save it and print it out. Maybe we could show your story on the website in the Brownie Stories section.
* Create a piece of art using a graphics package. Save it and print it out.
* Download images from a digital camera or scan printed photographs. Use the images to create a photo diary of a Brownie event you have attended.
4. Do the following:
** Understand the importance of the Brownie web safe code and show that you follow it when using the web.
** Log onto the Internet and visit Girlguiding UK's website. Find out two facts about Brownies and email them to the tester.
** With the tester visit two websites. Explain which is your favourite one. Save the site on your bookmark.
5. Use a search engine (like Google) to find out about one of the following:
* your favourite pop star
* a historical figure
* a sport you are interested in
* a country you would like to visit.
